Copper drainpipes and gutters... |
Lead | ||
|
We are thinking of using some copper gutters to catch rainwater in. Would that be safe for watering plants with and animals to drink the water? Or does one
have to wait until the copper is years old so any toxin would have been weathered away???

Hmmm, we use copper pipes here in our houses and I am not sure if it is the same grade of metal or not, but the water would be deemed safe as soon as the pipes
were hooked up and the lines flushed for a few minutes.

I think he must of been ...misinformed. Copper is what all plumbers use in new or remodeled homes over here.

Copper (and or Rust), the mineral IN the water, can discolor your hair...yes. It won't happen from the pipes.

Well, this could be interesting......
Speaking of copper, I forgot to mention that we have been having a terrible time with copper being taken off equipment like A/C units and electrical stuff. The thiefs sell it and get a good price for it. Susan |

I am sure there is going to be a lot more of that sort of thing Susan. People are starting to hurt financially really bad, and with the holidays looming before
them and the stupid ideals that there has to be tons of stuff under the tree, well....stupidity and desperation will abound.

A neighbor around here woke up at 3am, and thought his cat was on the roof, so went back to sleep again. In the morning he woke up to find some lowlife had
removed his copper gutters and downpipes....

So, it spans the pond too. Sad. Very sad.

That is bad isn't it. Some people live their lives ripping other people off all the time.
Just glad I have a job right now. Doesn't pay much but I will get good health insurance in six months... (That will be a savings of $674 a month.) Susan |

Some people!, they'll steal anything, even stuff that's fastened down. I love that copper drainpipe we don't have it here, but I've seen it in
italy.
They steal lead of the churches and the newest thing is drain covers from the main roads. The one outside my husbands work has gone twice now. Jo x |

And my thought...how on earth would you sell that cover???????? It would be illegal for any scrap place to take it I would think.

There's a very good market in scrap metal. Mostly shipped to China. Cast iron drain covers here are regularly taken and sold. The latest takings though
are expensive farm machinery. Lots stolen from farms has been recovered in the Eastern Block Countries.

If the current economy continues as it is, it almost leads me to believe that we are headed towards looting out of desperation by those less fortunate. I am
heartbroken, watching the news and reading the stories of stealing out of sheer desperation to feed one's family. Then there are the ones that are stealing
just because they think they are owed it....that I don't agree with at all. I wonder just how bad it is going to get, before it starts getting better.
