You don't want to be taking that cold with you to Spain. How cool to meet up with another young lady from 'home' there in the same village. Maybe you can both create outings for the children together. The job situation is what it is for the moment. I am having talks with the corporate office over becoming a corporate site and I managing it for them. Don't get your hopes up too much, as they are not liking the idea too much yet. Just got done giving all the pups a bath. The two little ones weren't that hard, as I can stand at the kitchen sink with them. But man-handling the 120 pound pain in the arse, in the tub, has me a bit wore out. At least cuddle time tonight will be with sweet smelling puppies. Loves and hugs to all! Well Loved Chook Posts: 1358 22/07/2009 02:18:20 Broody	Good arvo from sunny New Zealand - this morning we woke to -4 frosts but now its 16 and warm sunshine - weather is unpredictable here to say the least and its winter! Builder is starting new house up at the farm - so exciting - but he says wont be around as at home with the flu!!! So will just have to grit my teeth and be nice to them all. I have not much to say at all really - Alexa how exciting to be off soon - and even better you have a mate near as "reinforcement!) in haste as must get another load of washing up as windy and dry. Deb - I love washing dogs!!!

Well Loved Chook Posts: 6335 22/07/2009 15:01:45 Top Hen	I LOVE wood heat! It is the only thing that can dry out the house and warm it to the core. I don't think I can live without having it now, since I had a taste of it. If I ever manage to have my own home again (working hard at it still) I will definately have wood heat installed. It's good for the bones...lol. Bell, you can come over and bathe my dogs every month if you wish to then...lol. The job is YOURS! Gonna be another hot sunny one, the usual here for summer in the high desert. Temps between 95°F and 105°F. At about 4:30-5:00 the day gets it's hottest, and it is just a wee bit too warm then for my liking. It hits the just uncomfortable level. I must have been a lizard in a former life...LOL. I am hoping to put in a coal/wood fire when we redecoratemthe front room OH has promised to decorate when I am in Switzerland and Crete. I have told him it HAS to be neutral colours! Well Loved Chook Posts: 1358 23/07/2009 00:57:39 Broody	We have always had a woodburner in our homes - the animals love it and its just the most wonderful way of heating, we also have "wetbacks: which heat the hot water as well as the rooms. So lucky to have a forest and bush surrounding our new farm - and millions of pine cones which are great for kindling. Feel very smug as just come back fromn dentist and NO FILLINGS!!!!!

Hen Posts: 685 23/07/2009 12:35:13 Hen	That's one of the things I miss from New York was the wood stove. I had a wood stove and a fire place in my bedroom. Here in TN, I have centeral heat and cooling. It's just not the same as that bone melting heat.

But, I am growing out of containers and only have green beans, herbs, orange sweet peppers, and tomatoes. I keep drooling over the tomato plant, waiting for the first red one. That plant has set almost 100 fruit on it. It's as tall as me and twice as wide. I'm amazed at it's size. I did get to have green beans for supper one night so far. Well Loved Chook Posts: 1985 24/07/2009 19:02:38 Forum Host	Gosh lots of posts!! My parents are big fans of veggie growing! We have a whole field with all sorts of things, runner beans, broad beans, tomatoes, onions, garlic, peppers and i think mum has some rhubarb and squash. Im feeling a little better, still got a cold but mum says if i had swine flu i would have a fever by now, thank god!! As quite a few people have got it round this area of the country. Im really excited about Spain still, really need to write a list of things i need to take and do before i go- got a week to go now = yaaay!!! We had to have 2 sheep shot today as they werent very well, poor things. All the other sheep had a wormer injection and their feet trimmed today- it takes so long and we were doing it in the pouring rain. We did have the help of glenn's (my stepdad) daughters boyfriend, who has been helping on the farm the past 2 days. He is from the caribbeann and also part Welsh, he has a lovely accent and is so friendly.

Gorgeous weather here. Not too hot finally. I have been studying the nervous system and the brain this last week. Super interesting! Tonight is a night off. I am going over by a girlfriend, as her hubby is out of town. I made the chicken salad that I posted in the recipe section, a fruit tart for desert and have a really nice bottle of chardonney for tonight. We both need a good, kick back and relax night and I am really looking forward to it. I think I might actually have a whole day off of work tomorrow. I definately plan on sleeping in...lol. Hope you had a good meal Deb - nothing better than a good wine and meal with a friend. I hardly go out much except with hubby, cant be bothered to as so tired with the children at end of day - Alexa its sooo exciting you are off to sunny spain soon!!! Yes heard about swine flu in the UK - am suprised cause I thoughts as its summer people would be mostly flu free. It got quite bad here a few weeks back schools were really hit and my son had a bad flu - but came right thankfully and no antibiotics either which is goo. Oh well its another rugby saturday and I have to do oranges at half time (but have sent hubby with the oranges!!!) I just dislike the whole sport/rugby thing so much, loud, noisy, and far too much testosterone around!!! I usually wait in my car till I can see when its over and then collect youngest son - I think alot of people would find it very odd as they just LOVE rugby round here!! lol.

I leave a week saturday and come back 5 weeks later, the 5th sept. i think it is. If i get into uni, which i will find out while im away, then i will probably move around the 20th september. so busy times ahead!! Your evening with your friend sounds lovely Deb, hope you enjoy it :) it is good to relax,i especially agree with the nap- im big fans of them hehe. Bell: Yeah lots of kids are getting flu round here, the thing is your being told not to go to the doctors, just get someone whos well to go and pick up the medicine, so i dunno how accurate the stats on swine flu are. And i agree with you about rugby, especially if it's cold- i would stay outta the way!! My dad usually takes my brother when he has weekend training etc.

Hen Posts: 685 25/07/2009 16:31:48 Hen	The last 2 weeks have been wonderful here in TN. it's usually so hot you can't breath this time of the year, but we had some major rains and then it cooled down. Danny and I have been going fishing in the evenings I'm not working. We just catch and throw back, but it's fun and relaxing. Last night we went fishing at a new place It is the backwaters of the TN river and there was this log straight across from me. Suddenly a blue heron came down and landed on the log. I forgot all about fishing, he was so neat. I wich I had my camera. he stayed for about 10 minutes before he flew off.

Well Loved Chook Posts: 1358 26/07/2009 06:09:47 Broody	Oooh, its so cold sitting at my computer!! But its so nice to sit down for a few minutes as have been on my feet all day, except for drivng children around. As its so cold have been cooking up hot mash for the girls, they are looking fat and well (but 2 eggs only every other day) and OH grumbling what useless hens!! But as its so cold and icy I dont blame them. I love fishing, but dont really have the patience for river fishing (OH loves that) I like the sea, cause its a suprise when you see what you have caught! Off to cook stir fry now as lots of dark green crinkly cabbage in season, lovely with fried onions, garlic, ginger and soy!
